Heaven and Earth Designs

I've become a little obsessed with looking at the works in progress on the Heaven and Earth Designs message board. In particular the stitched version of St. Nick in His Study by Scott Gustafson. The above image is one from dianemi100 webshots album. How I long to be stitching this myself but would I really stick at it, considering all the unfinished or finished but never framed pieces I already have.Below is the painting. In both cases, clicking will reveal a larger version.

I saw this on Ramblings At Midnight and filled in my own shuffle. I love that the End Credit turned out to be There She Goes.

How to tidy a book shelf

Although I've always had lots of books around me I had never really given much thought to how to arrange them. I recently came across people who arrange their books by colour and various tips. The simple tips I tried included not putting things across the top of your books, not having them all the way to the front of the shelf but not using that space in front for photos and ornaments and keeping them the same distance from front of the shelf all the way along. With use they do tend to end up uneven and just simply straightening them up make a big difference. This is a before picture from last Christmas. Even without the Santa rug the shelves were cluttered with things on top of the books etc. Last night I spent some time finding homes for all the bits and bobs that tended to be put on top of the books just for easy access and because they had no home of their own. In the process I came across a medal that I was awarded in a place I worked. There had been a spate of illness and a lot of the staff had taken time off over the winter but fortunately I wasn't too ill and soldiered on. As a bit of a joke they gave me an attendance medal. It made me laugh to find it. I miss that place. Anyway, this is the after picture. I did another set of shelving as well, much to my Daughter's annoyance as it meant turfing her off the computer when she was chatting to people on MSN, painting a virtual Christmas cookie and listening to Mariah Carey singing all I want for Christmas over and over.

Christmas Chickadee framed

I framed the Christmas Chickadee this weekend and it was promptly draped with lights. The lights will be moved soon because they are actually outdoor lights and a bit bulky for indoors.
