The Perfect Housewife

I was watching good old Anthea on The Perfect Housewife and she came up with a blinding tip for keeping your matching underwear together to cut out the hunt through the drawer. Her first tips involved shelling out for see through make up bags to keep each set in. Lovely idea but I can't imagine even finding the bags, never mind buying a drawer full. The idea that struck me as one of those "why didn't I think of that?" moments was to loop the bra through the knickers and fasten it. Hey presto, they will not be separated in the drawer. Of course, you could then tuck the whole lot into one cup. In my case I could probably tuck my entire collection into one cup, drawer and all.

When I was a child that little building at the end was used as a mini zoo. There was a poor bear kept in a cage probably not even 2 square metres in size. Now, 2000 square metres is considered just about tolerable, with plenty of foraging, play equipment, trees and pools. Makes me feel ill just thinking about the life that poor old bear must have had.

Saving things

Our home is mostly de-cluttered now. The attic could probably stand another ruthless sort through but it's tidy. The garage, well, that's a different matter. Sir often remarks that myself and my Daughter "never throw anything away", thus implying that he never holds on to things...he just puts them in the garage. We all can be guilty of saving things because we can imagine a use for them, never mind that the dolly might be missing an arm or that you won't ever, really, get around to a three hour session with the brasso on those old fashioned weighing scales. Today I opened the garage, which had been letting in water all winter, and all this carefully hoarded "useful" stuff was revealed as just crud. It might have been useful to someone at the time of storing, if we had accosted someone in the street and forced, say a dead computer monitor upon them that they just happened to need. Now, covered in moss with slugs in the plug it is just an extra thing to throw in the skip. Ironically, I opened the garage to store a chair.
