I was doing an absent minded wipe of the kitchen worktop this evening whilst waiting for the kettle to boil and noticed of all things a flour mite. This was a bit of a puzzle as I had washed all the worktop down properly before and after making tea and, since I have entered this, hopefully temporary, depressed phase, there is no way my kitchen has seen flour for at least a year. My first thought was "my Gawd, I'll end up on the TV show "how clean is your house" but then the more rational side kicked in and pondered on how one can have a flour mite in the absence of flour or any flour products. The bread last used was fresh today, the chopping board has been through the dishwasher and I couldn't spy a stray crumb. A little research and I think I have an answer. Apparently flour mites also live in cheese and guess what I put in one of Sirs sandwhiches to take to work this night. Oooops, I thought it smelled rather strong.
Speaking of Sir, he has won something on a radio programme this evening. Naturally we listened keenly for the announcement hoping for a car or even a patented flour mite zapper. He has won some cd's, which is very nice but I am not sure what albums they are. The presenter called him a "sweetie" and said he would spend many a night chilling out to the music. Bless her. "Sweetie" is not a word that even his own Mother would apply to him.
When he first rang me and said to listen to the radio I had a wild idea that he had dedicated a song to me but, as far as I know, there is not a song entitled "you are a grumpy cow, snap out of it"....to the tune of "come and get yer black bin bags" as sung on Phoenix nights.
