Cordless Mice

Bought a new keyboard today, cordless, and it came with a cordless mouse. I have always discarded cordless mice in the past, finding them too slow. If only they made it a little more clear that you DON'T use a mouse mat with them! I discarded the mat and hey presto, whizzy mouse. With my new knowledge I will have all the cordless mice at work resurected from the dusty corners to which they have been flung. Maybe the makers of mouse mats have endevoured to make it one of the world's best kept secrets, along with the guys who keep the digital imaging secret.

Morecambe Rock Gardens

I used to love playing in these rock gardens. All turned into car parks of course now.
In the background is the pier that was owned by a man I once worked for. The council never let him do anything with it until eventually he had to demolish it. I suppose if they could have thought of a way to build a car park on it he would have been allowed that.

Mickey Mouse

I found a very enjoyable way to get more tomatoes into the day. This drink is called a Mickey Mouse. I don't know why but I will try and find out.

3 oz Tomato Juice
1 squeeze of Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 or 3 drops Tabasco Sauce
1 Lime wedge

Shake all ingredients (except lime wedge) with ice and strain into a glass over ice cubes. Add salt and pepper to taste if you wish, I don't. Add the wedge of lime and serve.

Good de-cluttering day

I say day but most of the work took place in the evening as Sir is on nights and so I can't make much noise until he gets up. I filled two bin bags of clothes and threw them out, one huge bin bag for the charity shop and a smaller bag of clothes suitable for shredding for rag rugging. I put jumpers in those bags that you can suck all the air out of. Three drawers worth now fit in one. I pulled out ALL clothes that are one size to small and put them in a "one size too small" drawer. I did allow myself a few two sizes to small but I did not kid myself that I would ever slim down to three sizes too small! I even threw out a long treasured designer top that always made its way back into a drawer before. Poor sir just has a wardrobe full of empty hangers but at least now I can iron his stuff without it crinkling back up.
Darling daughter made off with some silk underwear that doesn't come close to fitting me and a jumper that I had put in the charity bag. She tried on some nice leather clogs that I got in Holland and they have vanished into her room.
I finally stopped at 11.30 in the evening, shattered.

What does WISP mean

I have used Cross Stitch shorthand for many years. I knew UFO was unfinished object, SEX was Stash Enhancement eXperience and I have many many WIPS, works in progress. Recently I have noticed stitchers using the term WISP. I wondered if it meant work in serious progress. I had to know and a quick search revealed a handy little guide on Debi's Site. It means work in SLOW progress. Of course, I should have guessed. Most of mine are WISPs then. I tell a lie, most of mine are UFO's.

Craft Rooms

Spent the morning drooling over the Craft Rooms on this list. I think the loft is about to become massively decluttered and I shall buy an "Iris Cart" (plastic storage drawers) every pay day.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are my least favourite of the 14 superfoods so I decided to select some recipes to make a tasty way to incorporate them. Apart from specific recipes tomatoes can be incorporated into meals by stirring puree or paste into soups, stews and curries, using in spaghetti sauces and pizza toppings.
One serving of processed tomatoes a day (processing breaks down the cell walls and releases the lycopene) and one serving of fresh per day. Try for extra servings throughout the week.
Sidekicks include Watermelon, persimmons, pink grapefruit, red papaya and strawberry guava.
Try to have a little dietary fat with each serving, i.e olive oil on tomatoes, watermelon tossed in a salad with a little feta, grapefruit and a slice of toast and butter, even just a few nuts help. The absorption of lycopene depends on the presence of a little dietary fat.

Superpowers of tomatoes and sidekicks: lower cancer risk, increase of skin sun-protection factor (sun block from the inside!), preventing age related degeneration such as cataracts. Reduces risk of cardiovascular disease.
