Exported from my Diary. Actually refers to 2002
Today my walking companion and I allowed Sir to accompany us on a walk to Sunderland Point. We met her partner for lunch in The Globe and then set off. As the tide was in the road was impassable to we struck out on the footpath. It seemed easy enough at first, the fields were full of sheep and swans and the sun was shining. It was very windy and Sir and D produced hats and scarves.
Soon we had strayed from the path, somehow, and were clambering over gates, barbed wire, ditches and sneaking past bulls. At one point we had to use Sir's head for balance whilst we scaled a fence. I'm sure he was squashed a foot shorter for a little while.
Eventually we found our way to the shore line and visited
Sambo's Grave. Children had made coloured stones and flowers and left them there. It began to rain which made us get our map reading act together and we were soon turning the headland.
The road was still blocked so we had to find an alternative route home.
Poor sir, he had to help us over fences and ditches. My legs were stumpier than theirs and sometimes he had to lift me down. D and I were laughing so much on occasion that we couldn't balance. To think that a few weeks ago D was recovering from major surgery and couldn't push the hoover around and today she was climbing five bar gates. When we decide d to get fitter for all the walking in Disney, we didn't do things by halves.
