Little Cotton Rabbits and some stunning crayons

Little Cotton Rabbits is my blog of the day. Where to start? The stunning knitted cupcake gallery or the Free patterns page?. I've been writing about the knitting projects over on Knitting By The Sea but the project on making your own crayon shapes was more suited for here. The photo's made me want to scour the house for old crayons to bake and chill into wonderful shapes but that would mean venturing into places I'd rather not examine. My daughter has an extensive "old pens" collection, possibly running into the thousands, which no doubt will contain a few hundred old crayons, but I don't want to confront the collection and start giving out lectures on clutter and hoarding. It's her hoard, let her store it.

Christmas Chickadee

I started the "Christmas Chickadee" by Valerie Pfeiffer from World of Cross Stitching but stitched it on 14 count aida. I should have used three strands for better coverage and so went back over the hat with an extra strand but coudn't be bothered to go back over the rest. If I ever stitch it again I will use evenweave.

Winne The Pooh Circular Rug

My Daughter finished this rug a while ago. It takes me a while to get around to binding them for her and hanging them up or turning them into cushions. There are at least three more waiting my attention, and she has two more on the go at the moment. When she runs out of wall space we might have to actually put them on the floor.

As it is, we have to come up with some creative ways to hang them

Round Robins

In the past I have participated in many cross stitch round robins where, in most cases, the choice of what to stitch on the robin was entirely up to you as long as it stuck to the theme of that particular piece. For example,this robin from 2001 is lovely. The owner of the robin specified that she would like anything Winnie The Pooh related and to sign and date your work. I designed and stitched the Eeyore. Robins like that were a lot of fun, especially when your piece was returned with all its surprises. Recently I have participated in round robins that had wandered far from the original premise. They were mostly a complete chart that the owner just wanted everyone to stitch a bit of, no names, dates, nothing, might as well have been stitched by a robot. I hated it. Today, I finished my obligations to those robins and I am jubilant. Maybe one day I will participate in a round robin again but for now I will be so happy when I hand the packages over at post office.

Make your own Teabag Papers

To make a sheet of your own teabag papers copy a tile and paste it or insert it into word, adjust the size by dragging the sizing handles and then copy and paste it over and over until you have as many as you require. You can take these tiles, which are copyright to me, for your own personal use. If you wish to use them in a collection or product for monetary gain then please do cut me in.

Little Shop of Hobbies

Darling Daughter announced that she wanted to learn something new as a change from rug making, French knitting, card making, weaving and generally keeping me busy turning her creative endeavors into finished articles. We decided that needlepoint tapestry might be the way to go and so we went into town to The Little Shop of Hobbies on Peddar street in Morecambe and spent the best part of an hour dithering over the canvases and trying to match wools. She Will be starting this tomorrow. I love it.

Eeyore Cushion

Darling Daughter has finished a latch hooked cushion front now. I can hardly keep up with the finishing of her projects. As fast as I swat up on how to turn her work into a finished article she is batting along with the next.I neatened the rug and fixed a rod to it for hanging. Here it is above madam's bed.
